Our Motto: We're Changing Lives with Christ
News & EventsVacation Bible School 2010- "Saddle Ridge Ranch - Roundin' Up Questions, Drivin' Home Answers"
Each evening from July 12th - 16th around 50 kids saddled up for this year's offering of Vacation Bible School 2010. The kids were ridin’ the range and roundin’ up questions like: “What is God’s plan for me?” and “How can I be like Jesus?” At the end of the day, they discovered that God’s Word has all the answers. Kids ranging in age 4 through entering 7th grade had a blast
Church Picnic and VBS Kickoff
A galloping good time was had as we feasted on the vittles. The big shindig was on Sunday, June 27. We chowed down and have some fun, too!
Maundy Thursday Presentation
An extremely well received service of Jesus and the twelve apostles through scripture with Choir, Candles and Communion was observed at the church on April 1st, and that was no joke!! This free event is open to everyone to learn the true meaning of Easter.
What is Maundy Thursday you ask.........
The observance of Maundy Thursday has had many interpretations applied through the centuries as to the primary importance. The old Scottish word "maun" means must. It derived from older language roots with the base meaning mandate. The religious observances at one time centered mostly on the footwashing aspect of that holy night in Jesus' last week. However, footwashing had a significance and practical aspect in His day which are no longer relevant. There were actually three significant mandates or commands given by Jesus that night. The first was after He had washed their feet, He said, "I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you." (John 13:15 NIV) The second, which we are most familiar with, was to "do this in remembrance of Me," pertaining to the implementation of the Communion elements. The third, and actually most important, was the command of John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.". Although we will not actually emphasize that scripture, I hope it will be recognized as implied. Children's Choir
EBC's children's choir performs periodically at Sunday morning services and other special events. Practices are held each Friday from 4:15 to 5:00 pm. This ministry runs from September through June.
KidZone - Every Sunday Easter Egg Hunt
EBC had another Eggsciting egg hunt this year on March 27th with around 40 kids from ages 4 through 6th grade. After a funky Humpty Dumpty song, they learned learn why Jesus died on the cross with an empty tomb snack and a series of six eggs with the Easter story inside. They also had a great time gathering and counting their eggs, winning various prizes for crazy categories. It was an Eggstraspecial Easter event.
Support to Lakeshore Baptist Church, Lakeshore, MS
EBC along with many churches has teamed up with Lakeshore Baptist Church to help in the rebuilding of this church devastated by Hurricane Katrina. All of Lakeshore's church structures were leveled in the storm. Progress continues to be made as they have put up a metal Quonset hut building on a concrete slab. Using portable propane heaters, they are meeting in this at the present time. Continue to pray for those devastated by this and other hurricanes.
